⚔️ Combat
Combat guide for Idle Pockets. How fights resolve, which styles to use, and how shards work.
Styles
Melee trains Attack, Strength, or Defence based on your melee focus.
Archery needs a bow equipped and arrows in your bag (1 arrow per successful hit). Smith arrowheads from metal bars, then assemble finished arrows in Crafting with arrowheads, feathers, and oak logs.
Magic spends elemental shards and respects monster weaknesses and resists.
Elemental shards
Magic spends elemental shards per hit unless an elemental battlestaff waives that element.
Mine Crystal Essence under Runecrafting (needs a pickaxe), then craft shards.
Fire, Ice, Lightning, Poison, and Holy shards are spent on successful hits (matching battlestaff waives that element).
Hitting a weakness deals 1.5× damage. Hitting a resist deals 0.5×. Neutral elemental hits deal 1.15×.
Monster weakness and resist tags are listed on each bestiary entry. Craft shards with Runecrafting.
Elemental battlestaves
Buy or craft an elemental battlestaff and equip it as your weapon.
While equipped, spells of that element do not consume matching shards (a Fire Battlestaff makes Fire Strike free).
Staves also grant Magic bonus and attack speed like other mage weapons.
Prayer
Open Combat → Prayer to toggle prayers on and off. Multiple prayers can be active; their drain rates stack and consume prayer points over time.
Max prayer points equal your Prayer level. When points hit zero, all prayers deactivate.
Kneel at the Altar under Skills → Prayer to regenerate prayer points over time (and restore a burst each action).
Bury bones for Prayer XP. Higher bones grant more XP.
Food and hitpoints
Each Hitpoints level grants 1 HP. Cooked fish and meats restore Hitpoints. Auto-eat is a Shop unlock — then toggle it in Combat to eat food automatically when HP is low.
While fighting, the combat arena shows your gear on the left and the enemy on the right.
Dying in safe combat ends the fight without the Wilderness loot penalties.
Where to fight
Meadow critters (bunnies, chicks, frogs, bees, jelly blobs) are gentle starters with cute faces and light loot.
Woods and Cave scale up through foxes, wolves, owls, raccoons, crabs, slimes, and classic elites.
Wilderness and dungeon foes stay high-risk — check quest gates and combat level before diving in.
Quest gates
Some monsters and actions require completing earlier quests before they appear or can be started.
